After three delays, a long-awaited PS4 game appears to be on its way to the PS4 and maybe other platforms. Despite the fact that the PS5 has been out for 16 months, games on the PS4 continue to be released. In fact, because the latter still has a considerably larger install base, the vast majority of titles that are released on PS5 are also released on PS4. At this rate, there’s little reason to believe this will change in the next few years, as PS5 production is expected to be hampered for the foreseeable future by semiconductor shortages. Even after PS5 production stabilizes, massive current-gen-only releases like GTA 6 and a current-gen-only Call of Duty will be required to push people currently chilling in the last generation forward to the current generation. Meanwhile, plenty of games continue to be released for the PS4, but not for the PS5, which isn’t helping the latter system. For example, it appears that The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe will be released shortly, and there’s no information on whether it will be released on PS5 or PS4, but it will be released on PS4.
Developers Galactic Cafe and CROWS CROWS CROWS revealed The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on December 6, 2018 during The Game Awards. The Stanely Parable was planned to be re-released in 2019 with new choices and endings, however, it was postponed to 2020. Then it was pushed out to 2021, and then again to 2022.
The game is currently scheduled for release in “early 2022.” This window is nearly over, and no word on when the game will be released, at least from the aforementioned parties. However, the game has been uploaded to the PSN backend, indicating that it will be released on PS4 soon. While there’s no certainty, it’s likely that it’ll be released on the other platforms as well, as you’d expect all versions to be released at the same time.
