Final Fantasy 16 – Kingdom Hearts Team Contributed to Combat and Boss Battles, New Trailer Coming

When taking a look at Final Fantasy 16, Square Enix’s upcoming epic role-playing game, it’s simple to notice how different prior games have influenced its design. Producer Naoki Yoshida mentioned that various “triple-A open-world RPGs” served as a source of inspiration for the game, despite the fact that it is not open-world. Because Devil May Cry designer Ryota Suzuki is working as the fight director for Devil May Cry 5, the game’s combat Battles also incorporates certain Devil May Cry elements.

On the other hand, it would appear that the team is getting assistance from the Kingdom Hearts crew during battle. “The Kingdom Hearts team at Square Enix has been very helpful in contributing to those real-time combat and boss bouts,” the developer stated. Yoshida stated to The Washington Post that the battles in Final Fantasy 16 are in some ways a culmination of the company’s previous experiences. This is something that can be said about the combat in Final Fantasy 16.

More information regarding the fights themselves will be provided at a later time. It has been established that some members of the party will be AI-Controlled. Additionally, it appears that Clive will have a “loyal buddy” to issue commands to when they are engaged in battle (which could indicate the role of Torgal, the wolf-pup from the first trailer).

Yoshida told Game Informer that not only would there be fresh information on the story and setting published this Fall, but there will also be a new trailer for the game. Yoshida’s comments come after he stated that further details on the story and location would be disclosed this Fall. “In that trailer, we hope to concentrate a little bit more on the world and the lore and the storyline, and hopefully bring a little bit more of that information to players, showing what the story is going to be like, what the narrative is going to be like, and how that is going to fit into the world,” said the developers.

Final Fantasy 16 is currently being developed especially for the PlayStation 5 platform and is scheduled for release in the summer of 2023. Keep an eye out for further updates and information in the following months.
