Blizzard Entertainment has a lot on its plate right now, what with Overwatch 2, Diablo 4, Diablo Immortal, and a new triple-A survival game coming to PC and consoles in the near future. However, it appears to be working on several unknown projects, such as an unannounced first-person shooter with a strong emphasis on the PvP combat Project.
Kristopher Howl, a lead/principal game designer at Blizzard Entertainment, was discovered on LinkedIn by Faizan Shaikh, who discovered it through Twitter. Besides being a principal game designer on Overwatch 2, Howl has been working on an “unannounced FPS PvP project” for more than three years, with the process involving management for combat, user experience, level, and system design, and other aspects of the game development. Hires, “aligning teams on the vision of the project,” and the design of gaming technologies are all part of the plan for new “level building technology.”
I can think of a few potential possibilities for this unannounced project that come to mind, such as a potential Overwatch mobile edition. “Ares,” the aborted StarCraft first-person shooter project, was characterized as “a battlefield in the StarCraft universe” and featured players as Terran Marines engaged in the battle against the Zerg. It’s improbable because reports of the project’s termination first surfaced in June of this year.
It remains to be seen how far along this new endeavor has progressed. Keep an eye out for any additional information that may become available in the coming months.
