The developers of cryptocurrency mining applications NBMiner and NiceHash QuickMiner claimed that they were able to circumvent LHR protection on GeForce RTX graphics cards. The maximum hash rate on the RTX 3060, RTX 3070, and RTX 3080 cards were restricted as a result of this protection.
The source code for both miners is not publicly available, and neither of the miners’ developers is willing to share information. It is well known that NBMiner is compatible with both Windows and Linux and that QuickMiner is compatible with both Windows and Linux. And that it does not necessitate the use of hacking or flashing cards in order to function – all that is required is that the card is installed in a suitable PCI slot while running as a system administrator.
Many users, on the other hand, are skeptical. They point out that the work of NBMiner has not been validated across the board for all members of the RTX family. The developers of NBMiner point out that in some cases, additional configuration will be required,
How this will affect the prices of video cards is not completely clear at this time. However, it is undeniable that the defense was unsuccessful.
