Earlier this year, Capcom made the announcement that the native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S releases of Resident Evil 7 and the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 will take place in 2022. Resident Evil 7 will support ray tracing, higher frame rates, and 3D audio, while the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 will support adaptive triggers and haptic feedback on the PS5. Although the launch dates for all three titles have not been finalized, it appears like Resident Evil 3 will be available on the new consoles very soon. This is the least likely of the three possibilities.
When starting up Resident Evil 3 on a PS5, customers presently have the option to update the game from its previous iteration on the PS4. This was discovered by the Twitter user @BSAAEurope. The fact that this choice is even present indicates that the game will be ready in a relatively short amount of time, even though selecting it won’t actually do anything. Since Resident Evil 3 was also given a rating for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S by PEGI in the past month, there is a good chance that the game will be the first to receive its free upgrade to the current generation of consoles. Resident Evil 2 and the 7 will receive their respective upgrades in the future.
Additionally, Capcom has confirmed in the past that the current-generation editions of all three games will support the transferring of saving data from the PS4 and Xbox One consoles. If, on the other hand, you were thinking of delaying your purchase of the three new releases in the hopes of getting them in physical form, you should know that Capcom has stated that this is not currently in the company’s plans.
At this time, you can get Resident Evil 3 on your PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or computer. Since its release in April 2020, the remake has seen sales of 5.2 million copies all across the world, according to a recent announcement made by Capcom.
