Earlier this year, Capcom announced that Resident Evil 7 and the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 would see native releases on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year, each featuring a variety of visual and other enhancements. These releases were to coincide with the company’s release of Resident Evil 7. Although release dates have not been disclosed for any of the three games, it would appear that they are all very close to being made available.
According to the @PlaystationSize Twitter handle, which monitors the PlayStation Network database and any changes that are made to it on a regular basis, the native PS5 versions of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 have all been uploaded to the backend of the PlayStation Network. The size of Resident Evil 2 is 21.834 GB, and the size of Resident Evil 3 is 20.48 GB (both without any day-one updates), but there is no information available on the size of Resident Evil 7.
This comes not long after a native PS5 version of Resident Evil 3 was discovered on the PlayStation Store, which was preceded by the game receiving a PEGI rating.
Many people, up until very recently, operated under the premise that all three games may potentially debut independently, with Resident Evil 3 perhaps coming first. However, it appears that all three games will premiere simultaneously, and not too much longer after that. The date for the Capcom Showcase has been set for June 13, and there is a good probability that an announcement regarding a shadow drop will be made during the program for all three titles.
At this time, Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 can be played on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and personal computers. In addition to that, Resident Evil 7 may be played on Stadia. On the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, it will be possible to import and save data from previous generations of consoles. There are no plans to publish physical copies of the games’ current-generation editions.
