Earlier this year, when The King of Fighters 15 was released, it featured a launch roster of 39 playable characters. However, the developer, SNK, had already confirmed prior to release that this roster would be significantly expanded after the game’s release. The fighter would have a total of 52 playable characters by the end of 2022, thanks to a free downloadable character called Omega Ruble as well as four additional DLC drops, each of which would add three new characters (though SNK remains open to review requests for additional characters once that is done).
Out of the planned DLC, Team Garou and Team South Town have already been released. This takes the total number of post-launch content updates for this game to seven, including the previously stated Omega Ruble update. SNK has recently revealed that additional three playable characters will be added in the month of August. Orochi Yashiro, Orochi Shermie, and Orochi Chris will be joining the roster when Team Awakened Orochi makes its debut in a few weeks. The character renders for them are shown off in the announcement video, but there is no gameplay footage for them to be seen in. Have a look at it down below.
SNK has also revealed that the arcade classic The King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match Final Edition is now available now on PS4, with support for rollback netcode. Those who are interested in returning to the earlier days of the franchise will want to give it some consideration.
The King of Fighters 15 may be played on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
