At the beginning of this month, rumors began to circulate regarding a real-time strategy Minecraft title. Just a few days later, the rumors were officially confirmed when Microsoft, Mojang Studios, and Blackbird Interactive announced that Minecraft Legends would be a multiplatform cross-generation game. Now, we have a further fresh look at it, albeit one that is fairly condensed.
A new, brief clip for Minecraft Legends was just shown off during the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase. The trailer displayed the action strategy game being played on the Nintendo Switch. The game takes the gameplay and environment of Minecraft and combines it with strategy game features. Players will be tasked with fending off invaders and monsters that pose a threat to the world. Have a look at the teaser down below.
The mood is established with a teaser film that depicts a group of Minecraft villagers living idyllic lives until a portal opens and an army of piglins invades their world. At the very end of the trailer, there are a few quick snippets of gameplay that show a single playable figure being overrun by recognizable creatures that can be controlled by the player in the style of Pikmin. Since one of the clips shows the construction of a base, it would appear that more elements from the original Minecraft will also be included here.
It is expected that Minecraft Legends will be available for the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime in the year 2023. There is currently no information available to provide a more precise release date for the game. Keep an eye out over the next several weeks and months for further information regarding it.
