For many fans of the series, Halo Infinite’s lack of campaign co-op and Forge was a major deal (and not in a good way), and the fact that both of those items have been postponed multiple times hasn’t exactly made things better. However, one of the two is on its way right now. We already knew that the campaign co-op would debut in preview sometime in July according to 343 Industries, but now we have an exact date.
Halo Infinite will get a campaign co-op on July 11 as stated in a blog post on Halo Waypoint. A little information about how it will work has already been made public, such as the fact that everyone playing together rather than just the Fireteam leader will be able to advance toward their own savings.
Lead world designer John Mulkey explains that when players join the Fireteam and select their save slots to use, the game aggregates the mission states across those saves and creates a world state in which any missions completed by all Fireteam members are marked as complete while any missions not completed by all are marked as incomplete.
You may imagine this approach as producing a world where everyone’s Campaign progress is the ‘lowest common denominator (or ‘intersection,’ if you’re into set theory). In this manner, no matter what you do, no one will ever finish an assignment out of sequence,” continues Isaac Bender, a principal software engineer lead. This implies that any unlocks you uncover in co-op will still be available in single-player. Therefore, if you’re finding it difficult to acquire a Skull, you can play with a friend, and if they do so during that session, you will also receive the Skull.
The campaign of Halo Infinite will also impose a distance restriction on co-op players known as “Area-of-Operations,” which will have a radius of up to 1000 feet. Cross-play across all platforms will, of course, be supported in the meanwhile.
Mission Replay, another significant feature that was missing from the game at launch and has been hotly anticipated by the fanbase, will also be available on July 11. In case you’re not familiar with Halo, that is exactly what it sounds like and will allow you to immediately replay previous missions.
Additionally, there are new achievements related to campaign co-op and mission replay.
Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC users can play Halo Infinite. Forge will be included in the game sometime in September, according to 343 Industries. Recently leaked Forge information and video
