As a result of recent leaks, the internet was under the impression that the release date for God of War: Ragnarok was going to be revealed on June 30. However, it was soon revealed that, despite the fact that such an announcement had purportedly been planned, it ended up being postponed. Even if it is natural to have some level of dissatisfaction, it should not come as a shock to learn that a sizeable portion of the “fanbase” for this series has reacted in a toxic manner and in some fairly horrible ways. The developer, SIE Santa Monica Studio, has thankfully made a statement in response to the allegations.
The game’s developer recently thanked fans on Twitter for their enthusiasm and passion for the game in a statement that was published on the game’s official page. However, the developer added that while enthusiasm for the game is certainly appreciated, it is only appreciated when it is expressed in a manner that is constructive, positive, and respectful.
The statement says, “Our fans inspire us, and we understand the enthusiasm and want for more knowledge,” and it continues on to say that they understand both. “But that passion shouldn’t be toxic, and it certainly shouldn’t come at the expense of the dignity of any human being.”
It’s unfortunate that this even needs to be said, but if there’s one thing that the internet has shown us, it’s that there’s always going to be a subset of the population who will surprise you with how low they’ll go. No matter how idealistic it is to hope for it, let’s keep our fingers crossed that this won’t become a problem in the future.
Details on its Collector’s Editions were recently revealed, while recent reports have claimed that the game is still very much on track for a launch in November. For those who are eagerly waiting for more information on God of War Ragnarok (and aren’t being pricks about it), the details on its Collector’s Editions have recently been leaked.
