The manner in which organizations respond to user-created content, such as mods and fan projects, might vary significantly depending on the firm in question. The likes of Nintendo and Konami are only too glad to send out DMCA takedowns and shut down fan projects. However, there are others that basically live on that side of the community and do not mind at all sending out these notices. This is just another illustration of how the second category applies to Bethesda, namely Bethesda Game Studios. Bethesda is very much a part of the third category.
A member of the development team for the fan-made mod Fallout: London was recently contacted by Bethesda after the mod has been garnering a lot of attention and traction as of late. Fallout: London has been gaining a lot of attention and traction as of late. The group responsible for the modification has just now confirmed via Twitter that their lead technical adviser, Ryan Johnson, has been hired by Bethesda to work as an associate-level designer.
It is not the first time that Bethesda has hired someone who was working on a modification or a fan project and made them an official part of their company, and as usual, it is really exciting to see something like this take place. It is currently unknown what Johnson will be working on, but I have no doubt that, as a fan, he will keep an eye on the unavoidable release of Fallout 5, despite the fact that it is still a very long way off in the future.
We have a few very special and bittersweet announcements for you all today.
