Many remasters and remakes of Square Enix’s classic role-playing games (RPGs) are already in development. At this point in time, there aren’t many productions in this particular area of the publisher’s activities that excite reviewers to the same extent as Live a Live did.
The average score for production on Metacritic is 8.1 out of 10, however Live a Live has had scores as high as 10 out of 10 from Pocket Tactics and 9 out of 10 from IGN. Not only are critics from most websites pleased with the game’s classic visuals, but they are also pleased with the roleplaying component, which in its original form from 1994 has never been seen outside of Japan. The perfect technological performance, intriguing tale, fair gaming time (approximately 20 hours), and excellent fighting system are also praised by the media.
Around a seven out of ten is the score that is considered to be the minimum acceptable for Live a Live. What did the editors who made the decision to take such notes find objectionable? One good illustration of this may be found in the book “God Is a Geek,” where the topic of excessive loading occurs in the form of a negative. The rate at which the story is told is not going to be the finest either; certain portions will be either too quick or too slow. On the other side, we read on DigitalTrends that the game has numerous visibly weaker plot chapters and multiple aggravating jumps in difficulty that compel you to grind. This forces you to grind.
During its first week of release on the British market, Live a Live was successful in climbing its way into the best-seller ranking. I’m curious as to whether or not the Square Enix remaster will be able to maintain its position in the top ten in the UK for much longer.
