Alone in the Dark, another well-known horror film will have a major return now that the leak has been validated. We received the game’s first trailer at THQ Nordic Showcase 2022, and our editorial staff was invited to a private production presentation.
The best game at the THQ Nordic Showcase 2022 was Alone in the Dark. Since THQ Nordic acquired the brand a few years back, we could have anticipated IP, and while we had to wait a bit for the first trailer for the newest installment in the series, players can now brace themselves for a lengthy narrative.
The creators’ approach to the IP is extremely unique because Alone in the Dark isn’t just a rehash of the first game; instead, it will have an original plot with familiar characters, settings, and themes from the original trilogy from the 1990s. This prevents the thing from losing his soul.
The players will take on the roles of two heroes (Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood), and while the characters do the same things, the players will learn about the events from different perspectives. Depending on the protagonist we choose, we will receive different cutscenes and reach different locations. Alone in the Dark will be a truly classic horror game that focuses on combat, logic puzzles, exploration, and an extensive story.
The title will have a “deep psychological tale”; Mikael Hedberg, who wrote the screenplay for the horror movies SOMA and Amnesia, wrote the title. The search for Uncle Emily, who has vanished, will be the primary plotline.
The protagonists will visit Derceto Manor, a mental health facility where they will encounter “weird people,” “portals to nightmare worlds,” and “threatening beasts.” Derceto Manor served as the setting for the original Alone in the Dark.
Swedish Pieces Interactive, whose staff promises a gloomy environment mixed with a vintage Lovecraft horror film — in this case, realism will meet fantastical happenings — is in charge of bringing the brand back.
The new Alone in the Dark was able to be seen in action by our editorial team, and the movie looks… Very vintage. Although the protagonist’s actions at the time felt a little stiff, even on the fragments shown, it was able to feel that the developers were creating a previously imagined vision because they were concentrating on the camera placed behind the characters’ backs. It is important to emphasize that the two heroes willingly grab for weapons since many enemies are in their way. In many spots, I can feel the gloomy mood. The situation will provide us with a number of logical conundrums.
From 2019, Alone in the Dark will be produced entirely for the PS5, XSX | S, and PC using Unreal Engine 4. The game is now in alpha, but the release date has not yet been confirmed by the creators.
