A cancelled Iron Man video game from the Just Cause gaming studio has been made public by Marvel.
According to reports, Avalanche Studios spent years on an unreleased Iron Man game. But Disney and Marvel decided to scrap the game before it could be announced.
Christofer Sundberg, a co-founder of Avalanche Studios, spoke with MinnMax. He disclosed information regarding the game, such as how long it took to develop and what the user would have been able to do.
To “take off and fly anyplace” at any time is a part of that. That seems appropriate for an Iron Man video game. Additionally, he notes that the game was in development for a number of years and that Iron Man would have had the ability to punch opponents through walls.
In this clip from MinnMax’s interview, Avalanche Studios co-founder Christofer Sundberg reveals for the first time that the creators of Just Cause were working on an open-world Iron Man game before Disney and Marvel canceled the game around 2012. https://t.co/Ups3MrWmE4 pic.twitter.com/ODeya496uE

He continued by saying that both sides had great players, and the game “would’ve been spectacular.”
A MISSED OPPORTUNITY
I really enjoyed Just Cause 2, therefore I’d have wanted to see what Avalanche could have done with Iron Man. Just Cause’s traversal and sandbox gameplay has always been its strongest point, so an Iron Man game looks like it would’ve been the studio’s ideal fit.
According to the interview, this game would have offered an open-world setting similar to Just Cause. The idea of being able to take off and travel anywhere really appeals to me. Iron Man is effectively the vehicle himself, as opposed to Just Cause where you needed cars to fly.
Although it’s unfortunate that this game was shelved, at least more Marvel games are on the way. A showcase for Marvel and Disney games is also coming up. This year, it will take place from September 9 to September 11 and telecast at 9 p.m. UK time.
