Skull & Bones, a multiplayer pirate game that has been in production for a long time, was recently confirmed by Ubisoft to have been delayed yet again. This is not the first time this has happened; in fact, it is far from the first time. The video game was supposed to be available for personal computers and gaming consoles in March, but its release date was recently pushed back to an undetermined date.
In light of this, it would appear that customers who had pre-ordered the game are now being given their money back. It has been claimed by fans on Reddit and Twitter (via PlayStation Lifestyle) that Sony appears to have begun automatically providing refunds for the game to those customers who pre-purchased it. In the meantime, it appears that the option to buy it is no longer available on the PlayStation Store, and a dedicated page for the Deluxe Edition of the game cannot be located either.
The fact that consumers are being granted refunds for the pre-orders they placed is hardly the oddest thing that could happen in the universe, of course, considering that the release date of the game has been pushed out to an undetermined point in the future. According to Ubisoft, the debut of Skull & Bones will take place at some point during the company’s fiscal year 2023-24, which begins in April of this year and ends in March of the following year.
Skull and Bones is currently being developed for the PlayStation 5, Xbox One Series X/S, and PC platforms.
