Phil Spencer Assures Xbox’s Future Isn’t Reliant On Activision Blizzard Deal

Phil Spencer, who remarked on the acquisition, stated that Microsoft is still waiting for positive information from officials from Great Britain, Europe, and the United States. The executive in charge of the Xbox brand is certain that his company can function well even without the support of Activision Blizzard.

In recent days, there has been a lot of discussion around Microsoft’s agreement with Activision Blizzard. This is due to the fact that the company that makes the Xbox has inked agreements with Nintendo and NVIDIA to deliver Call of Duty to a greater number of gamers in the future.

Phil Spencer talked about the transaction, and he revealed in an interview with The Times that he had a conversation with the CEO of Sony about the issue with Activision Blizzard in January 2021. Spencer was speaking about the transaction. Although the conversation with Kenichiro Yoshida was “quite friendly,” the Japanese business is still attempting to prevent the sale from going through.

However, the head of the Xbox brand is certain that healthy competition cannot in any way be detrimental to customers. According to his point of view, Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are all doing well in the console market because each of the corporations has distinct advantages that provide players with options.

Phil Spencer highlighted that the contract with Activision Blizzard is targeted at strengthening Microsoft’s footprint in mobile gaming and that it is not tied to PlayStation’s role in Call of Duty during the course of the interview.

Microsoft is aware that the purchase could be blocked by regulators, but Xbox will continue to exist regardless of whether or not Activision Blizzard is a part of it, according to Spencer.

We consider this to be a very significant transaction. However, it is not something that could be made to be future-proof; Xbox will still be around even if this arrangement is not finalized.
