After a period of temporary exclusivity on PlayStation 5, the time has come for Tango Gameworks users to also get acquainted with Xbox Series X|S, but Japanese developers should still consider at least one update. The latest materials and articles herald some problems with the smoothness of the animation.
Ghostwire: Tokyo debuted on Microsoft consoles and in the Xbox Game Pass catalog , which encouraged several websites to check the release along with the announced news. Windows Central gave the game a rating of 7/10, while the editors of Xbox Era rated the atmospheric title at 8.1/10.
These teams focus on productions debuting on Microsoft consoles, so while playing the new proposal, journalists also checked the quality of Ghostwire: Tokyo on Xbox Series X – Jesse ‘Doncabesa’ Norris from Xbox Era reports “dismal performance”. The title has animation drops in almost all modes, but we must not forget that the editor also mentions similar problems in the PS5 and PC releases.
Jez Corden from WindowsCentral also described the problems the production is facing:
The biggest problem plaguing Ghostwire: Tokyo, however, is the game’s performance. On Xbox Series X, in-game frame rates vary greatly. Sometimes you’ll turn a corner and see performance inexplicably drop from 60fps to 30fps or less, though it seems to be worse in some places and due to certain effects (such as in-game grainy rain). Forget “Quality Mode” as it introduces a bizarre slow motion delay that renders the game completely unplayable.
The inconveniences were shown by YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits, who during the comparison focuses not only on the graphics, but also presents shots during which the smoothness of the gameplay is checked – in some scenes, production on Xbox Series X performs worse than the PlayStation 5 version.
Tango Gameworks will need to respond to any feedback and will provide appropriate solutions in the next patch.
