We found out in March that the Mafia 4 team at Hangar 13 is still looking for writers. This could mean that production has not yet begun. It will be years before the public can see it for the first time.
Hangar 13 company hasn’t said much about Mafia 4, but it looks like they may be getting ready to add multiplayer and live-service game features. The game’s creator is looking for people to fill different jobs on the development team. These job openings suggest that the game might not be a single-player story game like the ones that came before it.
The job post for a Lead Systems Designer in Brighton, which is where the next Mafia game will be made, wants someone with experience making AAA games. The company would also prefer someone who has worked with “multiplayer games and/or live game experience design.” The job also requires knowledge of economics and procurement systems and how they work in games. This suggests that the game might have a live service system rather than a co-op or competitive multiplayer system.
People who want a single-player game or story shouldn’t give up. This job posting is different from others that Reddit has seen because it doesn’t name a mob title. So these jobs could be for bringing back a Top Spin game or making a whole new game. Note that we recently heard that the company that made Mafia is working on a tennis game called Top Spin 5.
Other job posts talk about a “sequel to the Mafia title” and “stealth gameplay mechanics,” which suggests a fighting system like the one in Mafia 3. We don’t know much about the game, but there were reports that it might be a prequel. It will be about the Don Salieri family and will take place in Sicily. Either way, it’s possible that the game won’t be out for a few years.
We’ve heard that Mafia 5 will be made now that Take-Two has given the green light.
