Soon, the second numbered installment of the Dead Island series, for which we have been waiting far too long, will debut on the market. On this occasion, we decided to take a look at the productions that are worth playing before the release of Dead Island 2.

Zombies are literally immortal – whether as a theme for games, movies, comics, books or series, but surprisingly, there are quite a few zombie games that approach the subject in a loose, humorous way. Every developer strives for a serious story and heartwarming moments, while you can approach it really “egg”. This is how the games and series I mention in today’s material do. Without further ado, I invite you to read it.

    Dead Rising (series)

The flagship example of a light and humorous series of zombie-themed games is, of course, Dead Rising from the Japanese Capcom, where in all 4 installments we have the opportunity to hit the walking dead with whatever we can, organize joyful massacres, or finally make fun of the ineptitude of nasty old men. I wonder if Capcom is preparing Dead Rising 5 for us.

    Dead Island (series)

When Techland created the native Dead Island, it originally promoted the game with one of the most iconic trailers in the history of our media, but after the premiere it turned out that the game is not as serious and epic as its trailer, and it is closer to comedy themes than some drama. This then became a constant direction for all Dead Island installments, from the forgotten Escape to Retro Revenge. Will the “two” beat the classics?

    plants vs. Zombies (series)

The very name heralded that Pop Cap’s work would be light, humorous and generally mocking the subject of zombies. After the great success of “one” and the rather poor approach of EA to Plants vs. Zombies 2. The whole cycle was revived only thanks to Garden Warfare, which was more and more driven from one installment to another. Disco zombies is what the world needed.

Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse

What’s it like to be a zombie and eat people? This question is answered by the game Stubbs the Zombie, where in 1959 a billionaire causes zombies to take over the world – or at least his city. This title is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to play on the “other” side and deal with people screaming in fear. It’s good that some time ago its remaster appeared on the market.

    Sunset Overdrive

When Insomniac Games took on the topic of zombies, nothing else could come out of it than pure genius, filled with hectoliters of sauce from great fun, strong jokes and a laid-back atmosphere. It may not be 100% your typical zombie game, but if you haven’t yet tried to explore this unique world and fight for freedom, you must make up for it.

    Lollipop Chainsaw

There is no other game in the world like Lollipop Chainsaw. The legendary Suda51 and his Grasshopper Manufacture gave a show of their creativity, a little madness and let their imagination run wild. Charming teenager and cheerleader in the role of slayer of hordes of zombies? Only someone like Goichi Suda could come up with that. Today, this title is quite hard to get, because its boxed edition flies from 180 to even 1000 zlotys, but a remake will appear soon.

    Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare

After the absolutely fantastic Red Dead Redemption, the Rockstar Games team decided to add an add-on to the game, where it mocks cult westerns in its typical style, adds motifs with the dead, insinuates some sick human-dead man love relationship and other twisted actions of this type. But well, you have to admit that this DLC is fantastic and every fan of the zombie theme must play it.

    Fortnite: Save the World

Before Fortnite turned into a money making machine, he wanted to conquer the world with a unique approach to fighting zombies. And while the theme of fighting the monstrous infected is nothing unusual, the whole setting of the game, its narrative and plot are hilarious, perfectly balanced and, most importantly, they can entertain you to tears throughout the entire campaign. The best element is the teddy bear turret, which says I am Misia, you are not Misia when killing enemies .

    Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Before we finish our list, let’s go back a bit to when LucasArt and Konami released a game together. It wasn’t a typical point’n click adventure game, but something completely different, interesting and really funny. Today, the 16-bit classic does not make such an impression, but if you want to make up for a bit of retro and feel this unique atmosphere, you can buy the whole thing on Steam, among others.

Borderlands: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned

And finally, something for fans of co-op. Borderlands itself is a great and very loose series, but what has been prepared for us as part of the add-on with Dr. Nedem, is really worth attention, even if you didn’t like the “one” of Borderlands itself. The text alone you smell like popcorn, now i’m pissed  made my day, really.
