The Division 2 is unlikely to receive a next-gen version. The creators do not want to divide the community

The Division 2 will be getting more content, according to Ubisoft’s announcement from last week. The company is also working on two additional games, but it has no plans to create a next-generation version of the 2019 game at the same time.

There are several signs that the developers do not aim to split the community in any manner, despite the French corporation’s ambitious aspirations for the The Division brand. Although three titles are about to be released, the firm doesn’t want to push users to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Can we anticipate a fully next-gen version of The Division 2?, MP1st questioned the game’s creative director. Because players of the PS5 and XSX|S would not be able to play with those of the PS4 and XOne in this scenario, the studio is unlikely to create such a release.

It’s unlikely because if we really wanted to take full advantage of [the power of the new consoles – at. red.], and we only have one version of the game and it is available on all platforms, full utilization of the hardware would mean that the game would no longer be available on the previous generation – said Yannick Banchereau.

The developers have already provided support for 4K resolution and 60 frames per second for PS5 and XSX|S, but have not prepared any additional improvements, as these could negatively affect the previous generation. The developers don’t want to divide the community, so they decided not to improve the game.

This is certainly good news, because a potentially larger audience will allow interested parties to find people willing to play more easily.

In the coming months, Ubisoft will develop as many as three titles, including IP – The Division 2 (premium AAA), The Division Heartland (free-2-play) and The Division Resurgence (mobile devices)
