The PlayStation 5 has achieved fantastic results, which proves that the advertising effort started at the start of the year and additional units in retailers have produced the anticipated results. The business is preparing investors for even greater accomplishments, though, and is not slowing down.
Sony had a record-breaking start to 2023, but the company has even greater aspirations for the just-started fiscal year.
The PlayStation manufacturer revealed in its most recent financial report that it plans to release up to 25 million PlayStation 5 consoles between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024. For comparison, the company promised 19.1 million PS5 units in the just-completed, record-breaking year.
While Spider-Man 2 will undoubtedly be released in 2023, and we can assume that at least some fans will enjoy the role, the situation may be different in the world of video games, where Sony anticipates a decline in first-party game sales for the current fiscal year.
The company did not explain why it anticipates reduced interest in exclusive games, but we can assume that fewer first-party products will be released over the specified time frame compared to the previous year.
Spider-Man 2 is the only exclusive game the firm has announced so far for the current fiscal year, and while if other PlayStation products are in the works, it’s unclear if the Japanese company will have any other surprises in store for us in the near future.
We’re still waiting for Sony to announce its ambitions at a specific conference, but the firm is continuing buying over companies and announcing the creation of games-as-services.
