A significant upgrade to the Steam PC desktop client has been released by Steam. The upgrade, which is now accessible through the Steam Client Beta, adds new features and enhances the Steam desktop experience overall.
The Steam desktop client has undergone numerous smaller changes throughout, including a refreshed design for several buttons, menus, and fonts used across the Steam UI, even if the majority of the enhancements are mainly hidden under the hood.
The new in-game overlay on Steam is the most noticeable change. The overlay now has a completely new user interface (UI), which is centered on a new toolbar with access to features like friends chat, achievements progress, and guides.
Taking notes while playing games is a new function that comes with the new in-game overlay. Players can add several notes for each game, and each note is saved separately. The notes will be accessible offline as well. Additionally, players can pin windows from the overlay, such as their notes, so that they always show up in-game.
Updates to Steam’s notifications and snapshot manager are among the further updates. How Steam handles updates between the Steam desktop client, Big Picture Mode, and the Steam Deck is a significant aspect of the update.
