One of the writers and co-creators of The Last of Us series, Craig Mazin, shared valuable insights about the next season. The director of the show “Chernobyl” said that a difficult task awaits the actors.
The Last of Us was a spectacular success. The series is indicated as an example of a very good game adaptation. After the great reception of the first season, fans are eagerly awaiting further development of Joel and Ellie’s adventures. Craig Mazin gave an interesting interview to Deadline . Mazin has openly admitted that he and Neil Druckmann are targeting the same narrative we see in the first season. However, he noted that the second season will be “more difficult” . There was also an important issue regarding the infected. There are many opinions among the audience that the series contains too few scenes with their participation.
From a creative point of view, Neil and I are pretty much in agreement not to change anything. I mean our methods work. We work well together. We adapt where we want. We stick close to the source material. Sometimes we fly away from it, but the whole process works great. We will squeeze the most out of ourselves.
The actors themselves demand even more from themselves. Since it’s been a while and they’ve aged, how will that affect their physicality? How will they move? How to fight? And what will happen when the world becomes even more difficult, more dangerous?
Naturally, we want to push all our technology. We’ve learned so much already, especially regarding the Infected and their scenes, to deliver a better show. We want to keep setting the bar higher.
If Craig Mazin lives up to his promises, we’re in for a very interesting development. Perhaps the creators took into account the opinions about the low attendance of the infected in the series, which, although it does not take away from the great content, could disappoint the expectations of some part of the audience. We will wait for the second season of The Last of Us at least until the end of next year.
