It’s simple to overlook titles like Miasma Chronicles among all the notable releases this month. It takes place in the not-too-distant future with a phenomenon called the Miasma causing problems, and it was created by The Bearded Ladies of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. Stealth is still an option, just like in Mutant Year Zero, even though it pays homage to classic PlayStation 1 RPGs like Xenogears.
However, Miasma Chronicles is a much bigger game overall. The world map is two to three times larger than the one in Road to Eden, according to lead producer Mark Parker, who talked with Eurogamer. Additionally, it is jam-packed with side tasks and unusual foes, such as robbers, vicious tree entities known as Whisperers, and armored frog creatures.
You’ll encounter hidden details and Easter eggs, such as posters of the development team. Of course, there are also lots of buildings to explore and containers and drawers to empty.
On May 23, Miasma Chronicles will be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
