Both Sony and Microsoft have spent the past few years negotiating exclusive licensing agreements with third-party software publishers, and one of the most popular titles in the PlayStation catalog is rumored to be getting ready to make the transition to Xbox systems in the near future Stray.
Stray, an action-adventure video game developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive, was made available late last year for personal computers (PCs) as well as PlayStation consoles. The ESRB recently rated the game for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, which provides further evidence that a port for the post-apocalyptic cat-starring adventure game could be released in the very near future.
It is safe to assume that this indicates that the timed exclusive period for Stray on PlayStation is drawing to a close. It would be interesting to see whether or not the game will be added to the Game Pass library as soon as it becomes available on Xbox, especially considering that it was initially made available to PlayStation Plus subscribers upon its initial release.
We gave Stray a score of eight out of ten in our review of the game when it first came out, and we said that “By constantly keeping the player’s attention, be it either via gameplay or its unique setting and atmosphere, Stray makes a very compelling case for itself, and for the player to stick with it beyond just the initial curiosity that the elevator pitch incites.” This score was based on our assessment that the game was able to maintain the player’s interest in some way throughout the entire experience. “A Cat in a cyberpunk city” is not a lazy attempt to generate conversation and intrigue; rather, it is the foundation of a very good game with a lot of heart.
Stray can now be played on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
