The modder known as “Ganaboy” has made available a fairly amazing modification for Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. The purpose of the mod is to enhance the game’s lighting system. Because this mod has the potential to enhance the visuals of the game, we strongly encourage anyone interested in doing so to download it.
To provide additional context, this patch adds support for the Volumetric Fog effect. In addition to this, it revises the Lighting Model Falloff so that it corresponds to the more realistic fall-off for all lights. In addition, the Shading model has been updated such that it uses physically based rendering for metal and diffuse. As a direct result of that, the appearance of metal surfaces can now be improved.
It is also important to point out that the Ambient Occlusion Algorithm is updated by the mod so that it uses GTAO. In addition to this, bent normals are now used for ambient illumination, which results in a greater color depth.
The modification can be downloaded from this location. You can also check out a movie that is ten minutes long and features Dark Souls 2 with this mod activated.
