In 2023, we will witness a real revival of the fighting game genre. Soon we will play Street Fighter 6, which can already be checked as part of the open beta , followed by Mortal Kombat 1 and Tekken 8. However, it turns out that the developers responsible for Killer Instinct also do not intend to abandon the project and are working on an update.
In 2013, Killer Instinct debuted on Xbox One with an average score of 73%. The team has been developing the title over the years, providing a number of fixes, adding new content, and while it may seem that the game’s best years are long behind it, the studio has provided one more surprise.
Double Helix Games surprised and announced the preparation of an update thanks to which the fighting game will run on the new network infrastructure, and fans of the genre will still be able to participate in the competition.
Over the past five years, dealing with the problems that arise from KI’s dependency on legacy services has become more difficult. We are working on solutions to address these concerns. Thank you for your patience and great fans during this problematic journey.
We have started to migrate older KI services to PlayFab services, this process will take several months. This is a quality of life (QOL) update and does not include any new content or configuration changes: the game you know and love will still give you the best experience possible.
Fans of the production will not feel the changes right away, although we should encounter fewer difficulties in the coming months. Currently, the developers have not announced whether they intend to offer new content in the future, but there is no doubt that the team has not forgotten about the fighting game yet.
