Players now have access to a variety of new levels of difficulty thanks to a recent upgrade for the public test version of Valheim from developer Iron Gate. With the addition of new difficulty settings as a result of the update, users are now able to mix and match different difficulty modifiers in their Valheim servers.
Players can, in essence, increase an enemy’s health and damage by increasing the difficulty, and conversely, decrease an enemy’s health and damage by lowering the difficulty. Additionally, there are choices that let players completely ignore the game’s fighting and concentrate on the base-building components of Valheim.
Jonathan Smrs, the lead developer on Valheim, has previously discussed the additional game difficulty choices in April. Smrs also discussed the functionality of the game’s difficulty settings and the addition of a new Hardcore mode with the combat difficulty set to the highest setting.
Back in May, the studio had issued a statement discussing mod support for Valheim and stating that it does not favor keeping mods behind pay barriers as it would go “against the creative and open spirit of modding itself”.
