Sonic Superstars, the next 2D sidescrolling Sonic game from publisher Sega, now has a new video. During a recent Nintendo Direct, the new trailer debuted, displaying some of the game’s forthcoming gameplay. The video is below.
The option for up to four players to play local co-op on the same system, which is a first for the Sonic brand, is one of the new features showcased in the Sonic Superstars teaser. The trailer also shows how the many playable characters combine and contrast their skills to overcome obstacles and foes.
A trailer for Sonic Superstars was released earlier this month to promote it. Sonic Superstars appears to include a ton of bonus levels and mini-games in addition to sidescrolling levels influenced by vintage 2D Sonic games.
Recently, producer Takashi Iizuka discussed Sonic Superstars’ gameplay and level collection, saying that neither will be found in previous 2D sidescrolling Sonic games. The forthcoming game will offer new levels with their own unique visual styles rather than reusing old levels like Green Hill Zone.
In late 2023, Sonic Superstars will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
