Starfield, Bethesda’s new RPG, will have full mod support, confirmed Todd Howard, the game’s creative director. Howard said the game will have tools to create and install mods similar to those in previous Bethesda games like Skyrim or Fallout 4.
Howard revealed this information in an interview with IGN, where he talked about his inspirations and his vision of the future for such a huge project as Starfield. He admitted that the game is his childhood dream and that he wants to give players the opportunity to explore a huge open space world.
“We want to give players the opportunity to create their own stories and their own adventures in this world. Modding is part of our philosophy and culture. We think it’s something that enriches our games and gives players more freedom and creativity,” said Howard.
The game will have a special mode for modders that will allow them to create and test mods directly in the game. It is supposed to have a built-in system for downloading and installing mods from the official Bethesda website or from other sources .
