Final Fantasy XVI debuted yesterday on PlayStation 5 consoles, but we all knew that the game would also come to PC in the future. It is said that Sony has signed relevant documents with Square Enix that guarantee only six months of exclusivity of this position on the console. Now the existence of the edition for personal computers is also confirmed by the game’s producer – Naoki Yoshida.
The acclaimed developer gave an interview to PCGamer, in which he emphasizes that the PC version of the game is still being prepared, but there will still be a lot of water in Wisła before we can play it. Work is still underway on the development of production and its optimization. Players will surely learn more as the studio nears completion. Yoshida added that the PC version still needs a lot of effort to come close to the quality of the PS5 edition, in particular emphasizing the lack of any loading screens when traveling between locations, or the smooth transition from directed movies to actual gameplay.
Yoshida emphasized that the team did not have time to refine the PC version earlier because they were busy working on the PlayStation 5 version. Some time ago, the producer denied that the PC version would appear at all, and then emphasized in one of the interviews that even if The studio will start working on the PC edition right after the debut of the console version, half a year will not be enough to fine-tune it. Hence, the six-month exclusivity exists only on paper. In fact, we will play FFXVI on computers in 2024 at the earliest, but we still don’t know when exactly. However, we can be sure that the game will not appear on Microsoft devices, at least not in the coming years.
