The creators of the Resident Evil series showed a new trailer for Dragon’s Dogma 2 during the Tokyo Game Show, while also bringing fragments of the gameplay to the fair. The latest gameplay allows you to check what a promising quarterback position looks like in an atmospheric universe.
Capcom has still not confirmed the release date of Dragon’s Dogma 2, although there are many indications that we will be able to learn the exact date of next year’s debut later this year – during the industry event in Tokyo we could count on extensive fragments of the production.
The latest gameplay shows the PlayStation 5 version of the game, which is characterized by an eye-pleasing setting reminiscent of the original – just like the gameplay based on constant cooperation with the team. In the open world of Dragon’s Dogma 2, we will face beasts and at the same time we will have the opportunity to perform various missions – one of the materials shows a fight with a large dragon, which looks quite promising.
In an interview with the VGC editorial team, director Hideaki Itsuno revealed what the studio’s main goal was when creating the second part – the team primarily wanted to add content that, for various reasons, was not included in the first game.
Mainly we just wanted to introduce things that we couldn’t achieve when Dragon’s Dogma was released, either due to lack of time or the limitations of the hardware that was available at the time. So the main inspiration was ourselves, and we were finally able to achieve what we wanted on the current generation of consoles.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was inspired by Grand Theft Auto 5. Itsuno shared how impressed he was with the developers at Rockstar by creating a living, responsive world that wasn’t player-centric. This aspect has become extremely important for the Japanese.
If I had to choose one other game that came out in the meantime, I would say GTA 5. I was impressed by the way they managed to create a world where it really felt like the NPCs had a life of their own independent of the player. All kinds of interesting behavior could take place while you were exploring the city, and all kinds of strange accidents seemed to happen whether you were there or not. This feeling of a living world is something I definitely tried to achieve in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
