We have great news for fans of the Commandos series. Kalypso Media has officially presented Commandos: Origins and the game will not only be released on personal computers, but will also be available on consoles.
Already in 2019, we informed about the return of the Commandos series, as Kalypso Media founded a new studio whose task was to bring this universe back to favor. In the following months, we mentioned Commandos 4, but ultimately the production will debut as Commandos: Origins.
Work on Commandos: Origins was supposed to end at the end of November 2022, but as we know, the production has still not debuted – the latest trailer, however, shows several gameplay shots and confirms an important detail.
Commandos: Origins takes players to the times of World War II, where the original characters join forces to create a legendary commando unit. Engage in close-quarters combat with Green Beret Jack O’Hara and team up with commando forces to defeat enemy soldiers with brutal force and calculated efficiency.
The publisher promises an “engaging storyline” during which we will take part in over 10 missions in authentic historical locations – from the icy landscapes of the Arctic to the scorching sands of the African desert. Players will face “a variety of scenarios and objectives,” with each mission expected to offer a “fresh and immersive experience.”
In terms of gameplay, we can expect a classic – it is a real-time strategy during which we will use the unique abilities of commandos and master the art of attacking from the shadows and disappearing at night. Commandos: Origins will offer players cooperative gameplay for 2 players (online or split screen).
Commandos: Origins is coming not only to PC, but also to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and from the premiere the item will be available in Xbox Game Pass. The game’s debut is scheduled for 2024.
