Since yesterday you can read our review of Total War: Pharaoh. Now it’s time to check how other editorial offices rate one of the most important strategies of 2023.
Creative Assembly and Sega can talk about moderate success. The reviews of Total War: Pharaoh are dominated by scores of 7.5/10 and 8/10. Although there is no great praise for the new strategy in the critics’ texts, most of the texts praise the strong, craftsmanship production, free of major technical errors. Some (Wccftech editorial team, Gameblog) even chose such high scores as 9/10. The game’s average on Opencritic is 7.8/10.
However, not everyone praises Creative Assembly’s latest work. In Video Gamer’s editorial text, the rating was 4/10. The work published by Sega is criticized for its “lack of ambition”, “poor soundtrack” and “only average gameplay”. Video Gamer’s editor states that Pharaoh’s lifespan will be very short due to its shallow gameplay mechanics. In addition, the title allegedly has performance problems, probably due to the use of the Denuvo DRM system.
In its video review, Costin Gaming calls Total War: Pharaoh “the worst Total War game in many years and a “weaker production than Total War: Troy in many respects.”
