For several weeks, we have been receiving details about Far Cry 7 being developed – including elements of the story , systems used and target platforms – but it is also known that Ubisoft teams are working on an online production set in the universe. One of the insiders shared further interesting details.
In the future, the Far Cry series will see not only a full-fledged, fresh installment, but also a game focusing on multiplayer competition. Reports published at the beginning of the year indicated that Ubisoft Montreal would take daredevils to the deaf wilderness of Alaska , where they would have to fight for their lives, collect resources and fulfill contracts. Over the years, the project evolved and became a completely separate entity developed under the code name “Project Maverick”.
Further details have been published on the Insider Gaming website – Far Cry Multiplayer is an extraction shooter in which we will find ourselves in the fictional land of Alashnica, and survival will prove to be quite a task.
The game’s plot centers around the player who is lured to the region with the promise of freedom, only to discover a land of chaos where trust between people is virtually non-existent.
In the online Far Cry, players will be forced to collect resources (including killing animals to obtain skins for the production of equipment, plants, chemicals and weapon parts), and the gameplay will focus on collecting equipment, gaining development levels and unlocking perks – it will be necessary to fulfilling contracts.
The hideout will be a kind of base and a safe location where daredevils will store weapons, gadgets and other equipment. Project Maverick is not only a single-player experience, but also a team production in which participants will share loot and a hideout. The game will feature permadeath functionality, high risk and valuable rewards.
Far Cry Multiplayer will probably debut before Far Cry 7, in April 2025, and as Insider Gaming points out, the alpha version is expected to launch in the first half of next year.
