The video game industry is such a dynamic and intense place that job changes occur very often. Probably most developers you know have jumped from studio to studio several times over the course of their careers, looking for projects that will attract them, excite them and keep them motivated to work. This is completely normal and gives this plot its characteristic pace.
There are of course exceptions. It is possible to find examples of situations in which specific employees spent a dozen or even several dozen years in one place. The “hero” of this entry is such a person. We’re talking about an art director from Blizzard named Samwise Didier. However, it should be noted that he will not improve his result, as he announced via his social media that he is leaving the studio after 32 years .
He has had the honor of working on some of the finest projects for more than three decades, and he has inspired franchises like StarCraft, Overwatch, and Diablo. We can all agree that this individual was among the most experienced since he played The Lost Vikings and Diablo 4 at the same time. Regarding the “farewell” that was uploaded online, I’ve included it below. In it, Samwise expresses his feelings about the whole time he spent there, discusses his learnings, and expresses gratitude for all the chances.
