Although Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 are vying for the most statuettes at this year’s The Game Awards, their praise and excellent reviews may not translate into strong sales. Circana’s most recent statistics suggests that the Remedy Entertainment game is not very well-liked.
The Finnish company has done its research, as seen by Alan Wake 2’s ratings, which rank it among the finest works of 2023. Because Epic Games provided substantial development assistance to Remedy Entertainment, the atmospheric horror game is exclusively accessible via digital distribution.
Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games have not yet shared the production results, meanwhile Mat Piscatella is contributing to the matter – Alan Wake 2 was not among the TOP 150 most frequently played productions in October 2023.
The executive director and video game industry analyst at Circana (NPD) does not have sales data because the manufacturer and publisher have not decided to disclose such details, however, data on player activity is a clue – and these do not look very promising.
I’ve seen some discussions about Alan Wake II not being on the charts. Publisher Epic Games is not part of DLP, so digital sales are not taken into account. Alan Wake II was not among the top 150 titles on either PS5 or XBS in terms of monthly active users, according to data from Circana PET.

Alan Wake 2 debuted on October 27, so it only had a few days to get a good result, but Piscatella points out one detail – the title could see a decent result in November and December, and a physical release could help it reach a larger audience.
Remedy Entertainment has not yet said whether there will be a physical release of the production. It is hoped by some gamers that Epic Games has only promised a six-month exclusive period for its platform.
