Former developers at CD Project Red who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 announced the opening of their new studio, Rebel Wolves.
The new studio of developers specializing in open-world RPG and RPG development will work on a new open-world title and RPG using Unreal Engine 5.
According to IGN, the studio will be run by Konrad Tomaskiewicz, who was the director of The Witcher 3 and head of production and subdirectory of Cyberpunk 2077. He was also joined by Bartomig Gauich, who was artistic director of The Witcher 3, as well as writer Jacob Samajic who has participated in previous works such as The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Design Director Danielle Sadowsky, Animation Director Tamara Zouada, Chief Financial Officer Michau Borica, and studio head Robert Morzinovsky.
The introductory statement for the new Rebel Wolves studio places a strong emphasis on preserving the well-being of its employees and offloading the weight of AAA development studios. The following statement was stated:
Driven by the desire to build a passionate team dedicated to creating vibrant virtual worlds, filled with powerful emotions and unique experiences, Conrad envisions a new studio with a unified goal of doing things differently while putting the team first at all times.
The studio’s first game is described as an AAA-grade dark fantasy game developed using the Unreal 5 engine for PC as well as new generation home consoles. In the new statement, CEO and director of the game Tomashkiewicz said:
We are developing a video game that delivers the gaming experience that a video game should offer. We want to develop the RPG genre by creating deep and emotional stories, all while working as a tightly knit team with a common goal and ambition.
