Ubisoft does not give up on the topic of NFT and the company has just announced Assassin’s Creed Smart Collectibles. The corporation intends to use its biggest brand to sell special digital items to players and then fans will be able to print them.
Assassin’s Creed Smart Collectibles is actually a “collector’s platform” where players are supposed to buy “limited editions of digital souls” and then be able to 3D print them. In this way, the company wants the community to be able to transfer the digital “soul” to the real world.
Smart Collectible offers a unique combination of digital and physical collectibles, seamlessly blending both worlds. Through IRL’s proprietary 3D printing technology, we embed the digital soul into a physical Smart Collectible, minted on the blockchain, ensuring its authenticity.
The corporation will use technology to ensure that each player has a “unique” item that is likely to acquire a lot of value and then be able to be sold – that’s basically the whole idea of NFT.
The assumptions are simple, but it’s hard not to get the impression that the NFT topic is unnecessary in this whole project – the corporation could develop unique figurines that would be sold in a very limited amount and probably some collectors might be interested in it.
Ubisoft, however, is wading into NFT and blockchain and is preparing an application so that players can present their “digital souls”. The first Assassin’s Creed Smart Collectibles drop is due soon.
