Over the past week, Larian Studios has released a number of updates for Baldur’s Gate 3, including the introduction of Lord Enver Gortash (Jason Isaacs), the leader of the Steel Watchers, and images of Baldur’s Gate. The developer stated that the districts comprise three “seamless” open areas containing crypts, a citadel, secret cellars, and more in a recent Steam post.

“Though ambitious, this meant that we eventually succeeded in creating a vast atmosphere of commotion in which all the stories within the city were genuinely related. Nothing is off bounds, and there is much to learn and be distracted by. Every home was supposed to contain authentic individuals with backstories who may give quests including secrets to discover.

Larian added that the game has grown “much, much bigger” when it first began five years ago. Even the content available through early access is simply a “glimmer of the full experience to come.” More information on the playable races and classes will be released in July, along with a more “complete look”.

Despite this, Larian is taking precautions to avoid giving away any surprises and will just hint at anything, “so you can make an informed decision as to whether it’s something you’d like to learn about or wait to experience yourself at launch.” Last but not least, the current strategy for Baldur’s Gate 3’s release on additional systems is “to release the game in order of platform readiness.”

The development team does not want to make any compromises because it is a massive, really next-generation RPG with split screen, multiplayer, and great breadth and density. So don’t be surprised if there isn’t a Nintendo Switch version.

On August 31st, Baldur’s Gate 3 will be available for PC and PS5. In the meantime, stay tuned for additional information.
