There are many indications that Gearbox Entertainment is not idle and is developing at least two games expanding the Borderlands universe. The team may be working on a full-fledged sequel and a spin-off full of magic and dragons.
The creators of the Borderlands series were bought by Embracer Group , but according to the assumptions they will continue to develop cooperative shooters from the well-known IP. The situation is interesting because the company has recently been publishing more productions than it creates, being very active on the publishing market. At the same time, developers are working on new projects.
The company’s plans could have been revealed by Randel R., who was on a short contract at Gearbox last year. The creator served as technical director and, according to his details on his LinkedIn profile, helped with Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2.
The games have not been announced yet, but no one will be particularly surprised when Gearbox makes relevant announcements in due time. Borderlands 4 seems to be a certainty, but it is worth recalling the words of Randy Pitchford, who in September 2022 emphasized that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a “new brand”. The head of the studio informed about the development of “future experiences” in this series.
Recently, we have also seen some rumors regarding the possible sale of Gearbox Entertainment , but there is still no official confirmation from Embracer Group.
