A significant new leak appears to have provided access to fresh information regarding upcoming installments in the Call of Duty series. Dataminers have managed to dig around in the alpha files to discover details, images, and concept art not only for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 but also for the next game in the series, which is allegedly in development at Treyarch and is expected to launch in 2024. Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile has had closed alpha tests over the last couple of months (which also led to leaked gameplay clips for the in-development title), and data miners have been able to uncover these details
The leak, which was compiled over on Reddit, mentions multiple weapons that will be included in Modern Warfare 2 when it launches later this year. These weapons include a variety of assault rifles, submachine guns, pistols, sniper rifles, and more. Additionally, it appears that swimming will be a new mechanic in the multiplayer mode, which is in line with previous leaks. Perks, killstreaks, field upgrades, and a few other things are discussed as well.
Importantly, several of the game’s maps have also been revealed prematurely. Intriguingly, one of these maps takes place on a grand Prix course, and it will also have day and night settings. Other locations, such as a museum and an oil field, as well as numerous different maps for the Ground War mode, will also be included.
The rumored PvPvE mode called DMZ is also included in the leak, and it appears to indicate that it will, in fact, be located on the same map as the one that will be used in the next version of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. This, too, has been mentioned in a number of the leaks that have occurred in the past. In the meantime, with regard to Warzone 2.0, the interrogations mechanic that had been previously released appears to have also been validated in this leak.
In relation to the Call of Duty game that will be released in 2024, which may or may not be the next installment in the Black Ops series of video games developed by Treyarch, in addition to the names of weapons that will be featured in the game, concept art for two of the maps, named Stealth and Pillage, has also been leaked.
Obviously, it is best to take this with a grain of salt, as is the case with every unconfirmed leak; yet, being as how it has come from Activision itself in this case, there is a certain legitimacy here.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, on the other hand, is scheduled to be released on October 28 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and personal computers.
