CD Projekt just recently made the announcement that they will be implementing a “new framework” for The Molasses Flood’s Project Sirius, which is a spinoff of The Witcher series. After what appeared to be a successful revival of the title by the corporation, different employees began tweeting shortly thereafter that they had been terminated from their positions. This sounded like excellent news at the time.
PC Gamer was informed by CD Projekt that 29 staff members, the majority of whom were associated with The Molasses Flood, had left the company. According to a spokesman of the company, “Because the project changed, so has the composition of the team that’s working on it – mainly on The Molasses Flood’s side.” As a direct consequence of this, there were layoffs for twenty-one team members in the United States and eight team members in Poland.
It’s a really large sum taking into consideration that when Project Sirius was first launched, there were more than 60 developers engaged. Piotr Nielubowicz, the company’s Chief Financial Officer, stated, “It’s better to cut costs early – and even restart if needed – than to carry on.” This was in reference to the company’s decision in March to reevaluate the development of the game. It’s possible that this effort to minimize costs includes laying off employees.
There is currently no release window or platforms planned for the Project Sirius game. Because of these adjustments, it’s possible that we won’t reach our goal for much longer than we had anticipated. In the meantime, make sure to check back for further updates.
