CD Projekt RED appears to have every intention of profiting from the Intellectual Property’s success as much as possible, and Cyberpunk fever is at an all-time high right now courtesy of the one-two punch of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and the basic game’s Update 2.0.
CD Projekt RED has just made the announcement that it will be collaborating with the international entertainment business Anonymous Content on a live-action film that will take place in the Cyberpunk universe. The CDPR claims that the project is now in the preliminary phases of production, however, there is currently very little information available about it (we don’t even know if it will be a show or a movie).
After the success of the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which was released the year before, we have already seen one adaptation of Cyberpunk so far. After the success of that adaptation, CD Projekt RED stated that it wants to continue investing in further transmedia projects. The firm has also stated that it is working on another project with the studio that was responsible for Edgerunners, which is known as Studio Trigger, but that it does not have anything solid to disclose on that front at this time.
While Cyberpunk 2077 has managed to sell more than 25 million copies all over the world, the recently launched Phantom Liberty has already sold more than 3 million copies in its first week of availability. A full-fledged sequel is also in the early stages of production at this point.
