A new statement has been issued by Valve, in which the company reveals its future ambitions for the game Counter-Strike 2. The development team has disclosed that in order to satisfy the technological requirements of the newly launched games, the game would only be compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows and Linux.
Players that use macOS or earlier 32-bit operating systems will not be able to participate in Counter-Strike 2, since the game is only compatible with 64-bit platforms. They will be able to access a legacy version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive until January 1, when Valve intends to cease support for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Until then, they will have access to the game.
Valve has announced that it would issue refunds for players who choose to buy Prime Status Upgrade in the event that they are either macOS users or can only play on a machine that supports DirectX 9 or a 32-bit version of Windows. This is an effort to allay the fears of gamers who will be negatively impacted by the decision.
After being in closed beta on the personal computer for the greater part of 2023, Counter-Strike 2 was just recently made available to the public. The game is a free expansion pack for the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive video game.
