We don’t have good news for players who were counting on the Phantom Liberty expansion being added to the disc in the final edition of Cyberpunk 2077. On Xbox Series
Yesterday, CD Projekt RED officially introduced Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition . The package containing the base game, expansion, all previously prepared updates and additional content will debut at the beginning of next month.
The special edition of the game for Xbox Series
The situation is completely different for the PlayStation 5 edition, where players will receive only one disc with a stand, and the expansion will have to be downloaded from the PlayStation Store. In the PC version, customers will receive a code for a futuristic adventure and Phantom Liberty.
VGC contacted CD Projekt, and a spokesman said that the difference in the delivery of Phantom Liberty was related to “technical requirements specific to each platform.”
The community reacted very negatively to the solution, emphasizing that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on PlayStation 5 will not actually be a “complete edition” – the lack of the expansion on a physical medium raises the problem of reselling the game after using the code.
This doesn’t make any sense. The final version should include all released content on disc. Why are PS5 players at a disadvantage and the Xbox version includes all content on disc?
Yeah, I won’t buy it if all the content isn’t on the PS5 disc. A very strange and not very good decision.
We can read many more similar comments, meanwhile John Linneman from Digital Foundry received a signal that the problem was “on Sony’s side”:
I’m told this is an issue on Sony’s end with how DLC plugs into games.
The Does It Play user emphasized that despite this, many sets of games with add-ons are being created, but CD Projekt RED most likely did not want to create a “separate version only for disc”.
The lack of a “separate version” means that players will not be able to earn the new platinum.
