Dead Island 2‘s review embargo has been lifted by Deep Silver, thus we can now reveal some screenshots from the game. The Unreal Engine 4 powering Dead Island 2 pushes some of the greatest in-game PC graphics we’ve seen to date.
The following screenshots were taken with an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 memory running at 6000 MHz, and an NVIDIA RTX 4090. The GeForce 531.26 and Windows 10 64-bit were also used. Also noteworthy is the fact that the game was set up on a Samsung 980 Pro SSD 1TB M.2 NVMe PCI Express 4.0.
Neither ray tracing effects nor a dynamic time of day is included in Dead Island 2. But Dambuster has succeeded in creating some of the most beautiful settings we’ve ever seen. This is large because of the fantastic pre-baked lighting in the game. Even Naughty Dog couldn’t match what Dambuster has accomplished with The Last of Us and the UNCHARTED series. The pre-baked lighting in Dead Island 2 is the greatest I’ve ever seen.
Just have a look at the screenshots below. I was actually astounded by the game’s visuals a number of times. I mean, I’ve never played a game where I took this many screenshots. And unlike other real-time dynamic TOD games, Dead Island 2 consistently looks fantastic. That is the appeal of baked-in illumination. Furthermore, this game will hold up just as well to time as Assassin’s Creed Unity did. In terms of graphics, it is THAT excellent.
The GORE system in the game is also amazing. One of the coolest dismemberment systems we’ve ever seen is present in Dead Island 2. Players can employ poisonous weapons to disintegrate zombies or burn their flesh. Seriously, the GORE system outperforms the most recent Resident Evil titles and every other zombie game.
Overall, I’m quite pleased with what Dambuster produced. Not to mention that Dead Island 2 has spent a considerable amount of time in development hell. It’s already a miracle that this game is available and that it looks as well as it does.
