Fans of Destiny 2 are experiencing headaches as a result of recent events that are tied to the operations of Bungie. Unfortunately, part of the progress that gamers have made will be lost.
The servers for Destiny 2 fell down last night, and they are still down at the moment this news release was made accessible.
Bungie has written multiple entries pertaining to this subject and published them (the last one appeared about 8 hours ago). It is possible that the servers will be restored today, although the exact moment of their resurrection is currently unknown (a tweet appeared that it might happen around 13:00).
The failure was unfortunately so severe that gamers would lose some of their progress as a result of it. When everything is back to normal, our characters in Destiny 2 will be in the same situation as they were before the 6.3.0.5 patch.
The creators of Destiny 2 made the following announcement: “We will be restoring all user accounts to pre-Hotfix 6.3.0.5.”
Our investigation and testing continues. To set expectations, this issue will not be resolved tonight.
We are estimating a timeline of 3-4 AM PST tomorrow, January 25, for our fix to get deployed. Timeline subject to change.
More info will be provided once available.
