Publisher Devolver Digital showed off its latest purchase. It turns out that the company took over the System Era Softworks team.
Devolver Digital has issued an official announcement revealing that it has purchased the System Era Sofworks studio for $40 million.
The publisher states that this acquisition will allow the company to develop the strongest aspects of its business in the “premium indie” category.
“Acquiring System Era Softworks will allow us to strengthen our offer of premium indie titles – both in terms of existing IPs and new ventures. (…) This is a very talented group of creators who have already demonstrated that they can create an incredible hit,” said the president of Devolver Digital Douglas Morin.
Astroneer, which was launched in 2016, attracted over 12 million players (information from July 2023) and generated over $87 million in revenue.
