It’s been a busy year for Electronic Arts, especially with the Battlefield 2042 debacle and upcoming games like the next Need for Speed and the rumored Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2. The former will reportedly be released in September/October this year, while the latter will be released in the fourth quarter of 2022. But what about BioWare’s Dragon Age 4?
First announced at The Game Awards 2018, it has several trailers, but no actual gameplay or even an official name. “Dragon Age 4 is ‘impossible’ to release in 2022,” according to insider Tom Henderson speaking on Twitter with a “source with knowledge of EA’s plans.” EA has previously said it doesn’t expect to release it before the fiscal year 2023, which begins on April 1, 2022.
But that seems to mean it could be delayed until fiscal 2024, if not before March 31, 2023. Both are in line with a rumored 2023 release, and journalist Jeff Grubb says it’s on track. Time will tell, but in any case, don’t hold your breath. BioWare notes that the development team is hard at work and “excited for next year,” so we could receive some new details in the coming months.
